Job Purpose To coordinate the care of each patient’s needs through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The needs of the family will be identified, and the appropriate resources notified. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and their families while focusing on Patient and Family Centred Care.

The successful candidate will be required to complete orientation to provide care to children admitted to the Pediatric unit requiring close assessment and observation as per acuity. Although primarily assigned to Pediatrics the incumbent may be required to work within the Women and Children’s Health Program as necessary.

Qualifications Active registration with the College of Nursing of New Brunswick (CNNB)

Current BCLS certification

One (1) year experience in Pediatrics and/or (2) two years medical/surgical nursing including care of children

Breast feeding training completed within 1st year of hire

APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification or willing to obtain within 1st year of hire

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 3 months of hire

Demonstrate communication, interpersonal, teaching and team building skills

Demonstrate assessment skills and ability to function independently with minimal supervision

Demonstrate ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities and complex patient situations Ability to attend work on a regular basis.

Ability to perform the duties of the position.

Good work record.
