Job Title: Director of Care – Long‑Term Care Homes Location: Ontario, Alberta & Manitoba (including Brandon, MB) Immediate opening in Brandon, Manitoba. Position of Director of Care (DOC) The Director of Care is responsible for leading clinical operations and ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, resident‑centered care within the long‑term care home. Responsibilities Cultivate – Lead and support the care team while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing, and positive work environment. Train – Ensure staff receive ongoing education and professional development opportunities. Financial Stewardship – Manage staffing and nursing department finances in alignment with care standards and budget requirements. Comply – Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and employment legislation. Risk Management – Address resident concerns and mitigate clinical risks while ensuring timely action on critical incidents. Customer Service – Respond to feedback from residents, families, vendors, and team members with empathy and professionalism. Resident Care – Oversee resident assessments and individualized care planning to support quality care outcomes. Collaborate – Work closely with leadership, care teams, residents, and families to optimize resident care. Improve – Lead quality improvement initiatives that enhance resident safety, wellness, and satisfaction. Strategic Planning – Develop operational and staffing plans that support clinical excellence and home priorities. Community Partnership – Collaborate with vendors and community health partners to strengthen resident care and training initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred. Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the applicable Provincial licensing body is required. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, in addition to at least 2 years in a leadership role in a long‑term care facility or other health facility. Working knowledge of long‑term care regulations, standards, and best practices. Demonstrated expertise in leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and build positive relationships. Proven track record of implementing quality improvement initiatives and achieving positive resident outcomes. Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and other relevant technology. Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
