This role involves operating paving machines to spread and level hot mix asphalt on the subgrade of highways and streets. Using stakes and level gauges, the paver operator ensures that the asphalt mix is placed to the specified grade and thickness, meeting project specifications. This role is headquartered in Lethbridge and Ft. McMurray, and involves travel between both operational locations, accepting applicants from across Alberta. The company will provide and cover travel and accommodation costs for work‑related travel outside the designated geographic area.How You’ll Add ValueOperate a paver and other heavy equipment in a safe and efficient mannerPerform daily maintenance and safety inspections to ensure the equipment is in optimal working conditionPreheat the paving screed before asphalt placement and monitor/control asphalt mixture temperaturesManually light burners to start the heating units of the paver and regulate screed temperatureOperate controls to lower the screed auger, manage the hopper, and navigate the paver's direction effectivelyAlign the paving machine to receive asphalt from dump trucks and maintain a consistent flow of material into the hopper while safely coordinating with trucksMonitor the distribution of paving materials along the screed and adjust its direction to eliminate voids at curbs and jointsEnsure the proper application of asphalt by accurately smoothing it to the desired height, width,
