As a High Voltage Test Operator, you will play a key role in the validation and certification of large power transformers supporting electrical grids worldwide. Depending on your experience, you may begin at the apprentice level and progressively develop full autonomy in performing high-voltage and dielectric testing operations in a highly specialized and safety-driven environment.
This position offers the opportunity to build sought-after technical expertise while contributing to large-scale international energy projects. How You’ll Make an Impact - Perform electrical testing on power transformers (low voltage, high power, and high-voltage dielectric tests).
- Participate in specialized tests such as lightning impulse, AC/DC applied voltage, partial discharge, routine and type tests.
- Prepare and configure test setups in accordance with safety standards.
- Perform high-current cable and busbar connections.
- Monitor critical parameters and report anomalies.
- Generate and validate test reports using the TRS system.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues (autonomous level).
- Interpret test results and communicate technical conclusions.
- Act as a technical resource and support colleagues’ development (autonomous level).
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO requirements, and customer specifications.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and equipment maintenance. Your Background - Candidate must already have work authorization permitting employment in Canada.
- College diploma (DEC) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
- Strong interest in electrical and high-voltage testing.
- Between 1 and 4 years of relevant high-voltage testing experience for autonomous level.
- Proven expertise in power transformer testing (autonomous level).
- Strong safety awareness and technical rigor.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
- Progressive autonomy and technical leadership skills.
- Availability for overtime and international training as required.
