The Peer Support
Worker provides culturally relevant peer support and wellness programming to children and youth, helping promote mental health, resilience, and healthy relationships through lived experience, training, and supportive connections. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, this position supports students and families in addressing challenges related to mental health, addictions, family violence, cultural identity, and overall well-being, while connecting them to appropriate services and supports. Reporting to the Principal of Elizabeth Mackenzie Elementary School (EMES), the Peer Support Worker works closely with Child and Youth Care Counsellors, Education staff, Mental Health and Wellness Elders, school staff, and community partners to support student success and wellness across the T¿¿¿ch¿ Region.
Services are provided primarily within the school environment, with occasional programming in community settings, and may be delivered individually, in groups, or virtually as part of a collaborative team approach. Provide culturally relevant peer support to students and families. Promote mental health and wellness through education, prevention,
and awareness activities.
Support students experiencing challenges related to mental health, addictions, family violence, and well-being. Connect students and families with appropriate services and community supports. Work collaboratively with school staff, counsellors, Elders, and community partners.
Maintain accurate records and follow TCSA policies, confidentiality requirements, and program standards. An ability to speak Tlicho is an asset.
Experience as a Youth Worker, Recreation Coordinator, Community Wellness Worker, Family Support Worker, or Support Assistant. Primarily based in a school, with occasional work in community settings. Regular interaction with children, youth, families, and community partners. Occasional evening, weekend, and regional travel may be required. Occasional lifting of materials up to 15 lbs.

The salary range for this position is from $39.26 per hour to $46.89 per hour (approximately $76,557 - $91,436) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $5,536.00 #
