Role DescriptionArcadis is seeking a Senior Wet Utility Designer to join our fast‑growing Utilities team in West Toronto. This leadership opportunity involves contributing to large‑scale transportation projects, preparing detailed design drawings for wet utilities (storm, sanitary, and watermain), and guiding multi‑disciplinary projects, including civil, highways, and transit/rail infrastructure in the GTA. You will mentor junior staff, manage complex designs, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.Key AccountabilitiesLead utility designs for MTO/Metrolinx and municipal projects.Prepare and review preliminary and detailed utility design drawings, reports, and memos.Design temporary and permanent relocations of utilities, including watermain, sanitary/storm sewers, gas, electricity, and telecommunications.Ensure compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.Coordinate with project teams, clients, contractors, and third‑party utility stakeholders.Evaluate technical alternatives, resolve complex technical issues, and interface with other disciplines.Develop preliminary designs using CAD tools (e.G., Bentley, Autodesk) for wet and dry utilities.Design utility protection and relocation plans across concept, preliminary, and detailed design phases.Mentor junior staff and foster their professional development.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree considered an asset.8+ years of experience on large,



complex transit/transportation projects with increasing responsibility.P.Eng. designation (or eligibility for designation).Direct experience with GTA public and private utility companies is an asset.Proficiency with CAD tools (MicroStation, Inroads/Open Roads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D) related to sewers and watermain.Strong written and oral communication skills.Experience with sewer and watermain design calculation and modelling tools such as Infoworks, EPANET, Infoworks.Knowledge of permits, licences and approval procedures for utilities.Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead multi‑disciplinary teams.Experience with trenchless methods for installing small and large diameter watermains and sewers is an asset.Construction field experience and familiarity with municipal and road authority standards are assets.SalaryThe salary range for this position is $84,800 to $127,200.
