Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to work in our home with our daughter with special needs (autism) with a seizure disorder. Essential support is required to assist with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving, working with children and/or adults with special needs.

Will have a strong understanding of caring for an individual that is non-verbal, requires 24 hour care, and assistance with all tasks. This role requires a nurturing attitude, patience, and the ability to handle physical tasks and critical thinking.

Duties

- Assist client with daily living activities and tasks in the home.
- Changing briefs (diapers)
- G-tube feed preparation and administering medication by g-tube.
- Provide supervision and support in home with activities such as wheelchair walks, operating the I-Pad for various apps, interacting with reading story books and assistance using toys/games.
- Help with mobility assistance, including heavy lifting and assistance with seizure safety which again requires heavy lifting.




- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping tasks as needed. (Vacuuming)
- Assist mom with paperwork when needed
- Requirements:
- Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as home care, nursing homes, educational assistants (E.C.E) is preferred.
- Knowledge of working with special needs children/adults and seizure disorders is an asset.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist client with mobility challenges.
- Ability to be a quick thinker and observe brief cues from non-verbal individual
- Solid interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and compassion towards clients' needs. Ability to work with an individual that is non-verbal
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not mandatory.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including days, evenings and weekends if required.

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
