The Mechanical Plumber Prefabrication Shop

Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities in the prefabrication shop, including production scheduling, tool management, quality control, safety, and staff development. This role ensures the safe, accurate, and timely fabrication of mechanical assemblies while fostering the growth of prefabrication assemblers and plumbing apprentices. Plan, schedule, and assign work to meet production targets and project deadlines Monitor output for compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards Coordinate closely with project managers, field supervisors, and procurement to align shop activities with operational requirements Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to support the development of apprentices and trade staff Conduct regular performance evaluations and set clear expectations for productivity, quality, and safety Manage the inventory, organization, maintenance, and safe operation of all shop tools and equipment, including inspections and replacement procedures Inspect completed assemblies and subassemblies to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards Review and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records and checklists Manage material handling, storage, and inventory to support efficient production and minimize waste Coordinate staging and delivery of prefabricated materials to project sites Track labor hours, production progress, material usage,



and tool inventories Prepare reports on shop performance, tool and equipment status, and staff development activities Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications Knowledge of fabrication methods, welding, rigging, and safe work practices Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and scheduling or inventory software Strong attention to detail and focus on safety and quality standards Journeyperson certification in Pipefitting, Plumbing, or Welding, or equivalent combination of experience and training Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical prefabrication or an industrial shop environment, including supervisory responsibilities Valid Forklift Operator Certification or willingness to obtain upon hire Shop-based position with occasional site visits as required Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory You can expect these great benefits: Extended health, dental, and vision benefits.
