BILINGUAL CLAIMS COUNSEL / EXAMINER, SPECIALTY INSURANCE The Bilingual Claims Counsel/Examiner, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for management of claims within the Specialty Insurance and Casualty departments. Responsibilities Coverage evaluation. Drafting coverage letters and other documents in both French and English. Setting claim reserves. Communicating with insureds, counsel, brokers, and claimants in both French and English. Managing litigation and negotiating settlements. Authorizing payments as required. Acting as a resource for various business units. Key Attributes Ability to thrive in a challenging, fast‑paced environment. Qualifications LL.B. or LL.L. from a recognized university (preferred but not required). 5-7+ years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance law and/or experience in claims handling. Fluently bilingual in French and English. Property & Casualty experience is an asset. Membership in positive standing with the Barreau du Québec (if applicable). Location Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Halifax office. Compensation Expected salary: $135,000 - $175,000 (base compensation).
