POSITION SUMMARY The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management of Calgary plant operations, including Production, Warehouse, Quality Control, Health & Safety, and Equipment Maintenance. This role ensures secure, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations while supporting the successful startup and growth of the facility.

The Plant Manager provides leadership to plant personnel, drives operational performance, ensures food safety and regulatory compliance, and works closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production and business objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESOperations & Production Management

- Lead and oversee daily plant operations, including production, warehouse, quality control, maintenance, and health & safety activities.
- Develop and manage production schedules, staffing plans, and operational priorities to ensure efficient operations and on-time order fulfillment.
- Ensure adequate availability of labour, materials, equipment, and storage capacity to support production requirements.
- Monitor plant performance and operational KPIs, including productivity, efficiency, yield, downtime, labour utilization, inventory accuracy, food safety compliance, and workplace safety. Investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions as required.
- Support plant startup, commissioning, operational ramp-up, and future expansion initiatives.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

- Oversee receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping operations.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, reconciliation, and inventory control procedures.
- Optimize warehouse utilization, material flow, and inventory management practices.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, traceability, and stock rotation of all materials and finished products.

Quality & Food Safety Management

- Ensure compliance with GMP,



HACCP, SQF, CFIA, and customer quality requirements.
- Review quality performance and lead investigations related to product quality, food safety, customer complaints, and non-conformances.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of food safety and quality management systems.
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout plant operations.

Health & Safety Management

- Lead the plant Health & Safety program, develop and maintain an effective Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;) system, and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation, company policies, and workplace safety requirements.
- Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, support incident investigations, and implement corrective actions to improve workplace safety.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate safety training, use required PPE, and comply with established safety procedures and safe work practices.

Facility and Equipment Maintenance

- Oversee the maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of plant facilities, utilities, and production equipment.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, repairs, and spare parts management to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment operation and comply with established SOPs and safety requirements.
- Support facility and equipment installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Team Leadership & Development

- Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management for plant employees.
- Build and maintain a positive, accountable, and high-performance work environment.
- Establish staffing requirements and participate in recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning activities.
- Develop succession plans and support employee development initiatives.





Continuous Improvement & Cost Management

- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
- Monitor plant operating expenses and support budget management activities.
- Analyze operational data and develop action plans to improve overall plant performance.
- Participate in strategic planning and operational improvement projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Diploma or degree in Food Science, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous management experience in food manufacturing or a related production environment is an asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SQF, and food safety systems is considered a strong asset.
- Professional working proficiency in both English and Mandarin is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends, as operational requirements dictate.

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk throughout the production facility and conduct routine inspections of production, warehouse, and operational areas.
- Ability to occasionally stand for extended periods and perform activities required to support plant operations.
- Ability to respond to operational issues and emergencies as required.
- Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily in a food manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Frequent exposure to production equipment, cold storage areas, warehouse operations, and manufacturing activities.
- Requires the use of appropriate PPE and compliance with food safety, GMP, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
- May require occasional work outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and during commissioning or operational startup activities.

LOCATION: Cross Iron Dr, Calgary. Public transit is limited in the area, and you may need your own vehicle for daily commuting.

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
