Psychiatrist Co Lead – Provincial Clinical Network – Mental Health & Addictions

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a Psychiatrist Co Lead to provide provincial clinical leadership within the Mental Health and Addictions Provincial Clinical Network (PCN). We are accepting applications from physicians all over Saskatchewan.

In this role, the Psychiatrist Co Lead will work collaboratively with operational leaders, clinicians, and system partners to guide the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of coordinated care pathways for individuals with complex mental health and substance use needs. The role supports system integration, standardized clinical practice, and improved quality of care across the continuum.

Operating within a dyad leadership model, the Co Lead shares accountability for PCN strategy, planning, and performance, contributing to a unified provincial approach to mental health and addictions care.

About the Provincial Clinical Network

Provincial Clinical Networks support alignment of care across regions and sectors, reduce variation in practice, and enable evidence-informed innovation and system improvement. They function as integration and coordination mechanisms rather than operational management structures.

This PCN supports implementation of the Compassionate Intervention model and serves a population with complex psychiatric and substance use comorbidities requiring coordinated, cross-system care.

Role Summary

The Psychiatrist Co Lead provides leadership across psychiatric standards, clinical pathways, and system integration, ensuring coordinated and high-quality care across services and sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and System Integration

In partnership with PCN leadership and system stakeholders, the Co Lead will:





- Co lead development and implementation of PCN vision, priorities, and workplans
- Support alignment of psychiatric care across emergency, inpatient, and community settings
- Identify cross-sector gaps and support integrated system solutions
- Contribute to governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement

Clinical Leadership (Psychiatry)

The Co Lead provides provincial psychiatric leadership by:
- Advancing standards for psychiatric assessment and care
- Supporting development and implementation of care pathways across settings
- Promoting integrated approaches to concurrent disorder care
- Supporting alignment between psychiatric and addiction care services

System Integration and Standardization

- Aligning clinical standards and practices across working groups and care pathways
- Supporting development of standardized assessment frameworks and care models
- Contributing to transition, discharge, and continuity of care approaches

Network Development and Engagement

The Co Lead supports a connected and collaborative network by:
- Engaging psychiatrists, clinicians, and interdisciplinary teams across settings
- Facilitating collaboration across psychiatry, emergency, community, and addictions services
- Supporting communities of practice and knowledge exchange

Collaboration with Provincial Working Groups

- Providing psychiatric expertise across relevant working groups




- Ensuring clinical alignment and integration of PCN outputs
- Supporting provincially implementable approaches to care design

Quality Improvement and Evaluation

The Co Lead contributes to system improvement by:
- Supporting evidence-informed practice and knowledge translation
- Contributing to evaluation of patient outcomes and system performance
- Promoting continuous quality improvement and learning

Culture and Leadership

The Psychiatrist Co Lead demonstrates leadership that fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and patient-centered culture aligned with PCN and Saskatchewan Health Authority values.

The role supports a culture of clinical excellence, shared accountability, and continuous improvement by enabling meaningful engagement across clinical disciplines and sectors. Through mentorship, influence, and relationship-building, the Co Lead promotes innovation, supports system transformation, and contributes to a respectful and high-performing workplace focused on improving patient outcomes and system effectiveness.

- Clinical leadership and system alignment

Not in Scope:

- Operational management or staffing
- Budget or resource control

Job Qualifications

Required:

- Licensed (or eligible) Psychiatrist in Saskatchewan
- Demonstrated expertise in inpatient psychiatry, concurrent disorders, and high-acuity populations
- Experience in clinical leadership and system-level initiatives

Preferred:

- Experience in addiction psychiatry or concurrent disorder care
- Experience in provincial or multi-site leadership
- Familiarity with system flow and care transitions across settings
