Intent of the process The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position. A pool of candidates may be established to staff similar positions with varying tenures, language and security requirements. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and overtime (specifically, there is a requirement to start work at very early hours (by 6:00 am) and to work some weekends and statutory holidays); Sustained focus to conduct often repetitive activities ensuring the authenticity of results. You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following EducationGraduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in earth sciences, physics, geology or some other science relevant to the position. ExperienceSignificant experience conducting laboratory or field work studies supporting mining or oil and gas projects in Canada.Significant is defined as experience acquired over approximately 5 years. Experience compiling, analyzing or interpreting geoscientific data. Experience providing professional services for clients. Applied / assessed at a later date KnowledgeKnowledge of seismic instrumentation and monitoring techniques and principals.Knowledge of data and signal processing and analysis techniques.Knowledge of geomechanical laboratory testing methods and procedures.Knowledge of standard operating procedures in a laboratory environment.

Asset ExperienceExperience working with micro-seismic data. Experience working in a geological or civil engineering testing laboratory. Experience using MATLAB (or equivalent) software.
