Join Nova Scotia's Correctional Services as a Relief Correctional Officer responsible for the safe custody and supervision of individuals within various facilities. This role engages you in agile interactions with persons in custody while maintaining facility security. In this relief position, you will undertake diverse duties including supervision in Living Units, Admission and Discharge, and recreation areas.
You’ll also manage administrative tasks related to case management databases and ensure safety protocols are followed. Efficiently promote pro-social behavior and assist individuals in custodial programs. Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure safe custody and supervision of persons in custody
- Conduct counts, searches, and safety inspections
- Encourage participation in available rehabilitation programs
- Maintain communication records through reports and logbooks
- Collaborate effectively with facility teams Requirements:
- High School diploma and 2 years of related experience
- Background in law enforcement or social services considered an asset
- Valid Driver’s License and First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
