Here, we grow people, ideas and possibilities.The OpportunityReporting to the Team Lead or Supervisor, the Sanitation Technician performs advanced cleaning tasks, including the disassembly and reassembly of production equipment, to ensure compliance with strict food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards. This role is responsible for executing complex sanitation procedures, supporting the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), and guiding Sanitation Associates in cleaning protocols. The Technician ensures all areas and equipment are cleaned to the highest standard, promoting a secure, audit-ready production environment.What You 'll DoAdvanced Sanitation ExecutionDisassembles, cleans, inspects, and reassembles production equipment according to SSOPsExecutes detailed cleaning procedures for hard-to-reach or high-risk zonesFollows the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) accurately and on timeConducts or supports ATP swab testing to verify cleaning effectivenessMixes and applies cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with specificationsOperates high-pressure washers, foamers, floor scrubbers and other industrial cleaning equipmentIdentifies equipment damage, wear, or sanitation risks and reports to leadership/maintenanceCompliance & DocumentationCompletes sanitation checklists, logs,
and verification records accuratelyMaintains GMP compliance and adheres to HACCP and WHMIS requirementsParticipates in internal and external audits as requiredFollows all health, safety, and environmental proceduresGuides and supports Sanitation Associates in proper cleaning techniques and safety practicesTrains new team members on equipment-specific cleaning proceduresShares best practices and contributes to continuous improvement initiativesAssists Team Leads with workflow coordination during peak cleaning periodsOther DutiesAt Village Farms we are all growers at heart. This means other duties may arise since we work together to ensure we support all business activities – seed to sale. This role is on-site, which requires you to work on facility at all times in a Technician, Sanitation role or directly supporting operations.This position Shift Time – Graveyard – 9:00pm-5:30am.What You BringEducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredCertification in HACCP and WHMIS is necessary (willing to obtain)Certification in GMP or Food Safety is an assetExperienceMinimum 1-2 years of experience in sanitation within food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or a regulated production environmentExperience with equipment disassembly and industrial cleaning processesExperience using ATP testing, SSOPs,
and sanitation documentationFamiliarity with chemical handling and PPE requirementsExperience with using manual toolsKnowledge & SkillsIn-depth knowledge of sanitation procedures, chemical safety, and food safety regulationsStrong knowledge of sanitation procedures and food safety standardsUnderstanding of GMPs, HACCP, and WHMISMechanical aptitude and attention to detailAbility to follow complex cleaning instructionsTeam-oriented with willingness to mentor othersBasic computer skills for reporting (Excel, Outlook) is an assetAdaptable and resilient in a dynamic, 24/7 production environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 40–50 lbs on a regular basis throughout the shiftAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs when handling chemicals, tools, or equipmentFrequent use of hands for operating cleaning tools, equipment, and computersFrequent exposure to wet, cold, hot and noisy environmentsMust wear full PPE including gloves, goggles, aprons, waterproof boots and earplugsAble to work in dusty environment (not allergic to dust)Availability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays occasionally based on production schedulesLife at Village FarmsWe believe It Takes A Village ® and we mean it.
