Looking for someone who is very active and enjoys being out in the community with a 12-year old child with complex special needs including non-verbal communication and intellectual disability.

Must be able to use their own vehicle for transportation.

Responsibilities:

- Provide respite care to individuals in need of temporary relief from caregiving duties.
- Be able to pick up client from home, take him to community activities in your own vehicle, and ensure his safety.
- Engage consistently with him by talking, singing, giving directions, and teaching him during your time with him.
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as toileting and dressing, as needed. Please note: the child may vomit when eating snacks or drinking water due to his disorder rather than any illness. Must be willing to manage care if vomiting occurs.
- Be willing to go out into the community. Community activities include walking, playgrounds, zoos, indoor playgrounds, swimming pools (you must be able to go into the water together and wash up together), etc.

Qualifications:

- Experience working as a respite care worker.



Disabilities studies education is a plus.
- Ability to perform tasks related to personal care, including assisting with toileting and feeding snacks.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with client and their family. Korean-language speaker is a plus.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting 50+ lbs and prolonged periods of physical activity/play with the child.

Note: This is intended to provide a general overview of the position. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Mileage is an additional $1.50 per 10 kilometer between Chestermere and the activity destination destination on top of the hourly wage ($24/hr).

Schedule: Weekend availability is needed.
