Risk Monitoring and Intervention – Safer Gambling Student

Location: Sault Ste. Marie or Toronto

Duration: Fall (September-December 2026)

Type: Student Full Time

Range: $18.50 - $28.50

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need someone passionate to assist in data analytics and research for OLG’s PlaySmart Safer Gambling (SG) program and produce data and insights tailored products to improve key SG initiatives.

The Risk

Monitoring and Intervention team is embedded within OLG’s Safer Gambling team that manages OLG’s Safer Gambling program, PlaySmart. This data analyst position will assist the team in analyzing, evaluating and reporting on the performance of key initiatives to best support players and increase positive play. .

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Director Player Risk Monitoring & Intervention, Safer Gambling, you will be empowered to:

Support research, analytical initiatives, and projects related to Safer Gambling

Analyze the Safer Gambling program data to provide insights

Query big data though our Hadoop data lake using SQL and Python

Perform machine learning techniques such as regressions and clustering to support business insights

Prepare, clean, analyze, and interpret data using statistical techniques to produce reports and PowerBI dashboards

Analyze Safer Gambling initiatives performance, A/B testing performance

Create documentation for analysis findings, presentations, reports, and templates

Support research studies to facilitate data collection and analysis

Manage, prioritize, and respond to ad-hoc data requests

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME

Education & Experience:

Interest in Research, Public Policy, and Social Sciences

Experience using Python and SQL required





Experience with descriptive and inferential statistics and analyses

Enjoy presenting technical concepts to a business audience

Strong communicator, client facing and able to describe technical results succinctly and with compelling story

Students in programs dedicated to Statistics, Mathematics, Math and Business, Master of Management Science

Creative and persuasive writing, reporting, and analytical skills

Ability to manage projects and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Work collaboratively within an agile environment
