Hospitality Services at Western University is composed of three pillars – Catering & Conferences, Residence Dining, and Campus Eateries.Western’s Catering Unit generates over $4 million in revenue by providing full-scale catering services to staff, students and the community. In 2025 the Catering Unit hosted over 800 catering events and filled over 2,500 coffee orders. Events range from large banquets with hundreds of guests, to small intimate meals with fine-dining menus and superior service.ResponsibilitiesThe Unit Manager – Catering Operations will be responsible for providing operational and logistical leadership to the Catering Unit in Western’s Hospitality Services Division. The Unit Manager will be a people leader, providing staff motivation and supervision to a team of unionized staff members (CUPE) while scheduling staff to meet the customer’s needs,



ensuring staff performance adheres to job expectations, and supporting the team to deliver best-in-class business metrics (staffing ratios, minimizing absenteeism, exemplary customer service, and health & safety).QualificationsEducation:College Diploma and/or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Tourism Management or a related field is requiredRed Seal Certification preferredExperience:5 years’ experience in the Hospitality Industry3 years' experience in management/operationsManagement experience in a unionized environment preferredExperience in a catering operation preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Working knowledge of scheduling, labour cost control and budget managementKnowledge of Food Service-style food preparation methods and food safety practices including the operation of kitchen equipmentKnowledge of food service purchasing practices with the ability to plan and order to meet menu and volume requirementsKnowledge of sustainability in the food service sectorKnowledge of approaches and techniques to market, promote and design products including product placement, merchandising, creating displays in the unit, placement of signage and point of purchase (POP) materialsAbility to motivate,
