EPac Flexible Packaging is a rapidly growing digital printing company with locations across the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania. ePac’s mission is to provide locally-based consumer packaged goods companies the ability to compete with large brands with great packaging.SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Slitting Operator is responsible for setting up the machine, running production of the slitter, cleaning of the slitter and all maintenance on the slitting machines. This position is responsible for operating machines to slit continuous lengths of laminated film into specified widths that meet your customer quality specifications. This role would also be responsible for packing off the slitter for shipping, when required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESIdentifies and ensures that proper materials are used for productionEnsures mistakes are not made and materials match as necessaryManages pre-run testing of the material to ensure the correct coding weights and bond strength are appliedRuns the proper amount of material/footage to the job orderCompletes proper checking of production and materialCleans the slitter daily; organizes machineand material parts during closing operationsPrepares for production at the end of each day for the following daySpaces rotary blades on the machine shaft, according to width specified on slitting work order.Loads material on machine supports and threads material over tension bar.Starts machine and observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and/or winding.Moves levers to stop, start,



and regulate speed of machine and to align material with rotary blades.Disengages winding shaft and removes finished rolls of material.Wraps rollstock in poly liners using core plugs. Labels, palletizes and fills out manifest for custom orders.Completes required documentation accurately and timely.Meets or exceeds prescribed job standards for line speeds, scrap and set-up times.Reports any necessary maintenance of the machine to the engineering department using a written work order.Reports any unsafe working conditions to the production supervisor.Participates in on-going training opportunities and supports a continuous quality improvement environment.Review work instructions and procedures that are applicable to the position.Performs other duties as assignedTurns on auxiliary and other equipment as neededLoads and unloads trucks as neededJOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESAbility to read rulers; read and understand gaugesTesting of equipmentAbility to use a micrometerMust have valuable judgment with decision making in regards to Safety and Quality.Ability to complete production related documentation on both computer and paper formsAbility to take direction from several individualsAbility to work additional overtime if required to get the job tasks completedEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION1+ years of experience in production, slitting and printing settingHigh school diploma preferredShift Flexibility is a requirement - The Evening Shift is 4:00 pm - 02:00 am.
