About Us The Hummingbird is a growing, family-owned wedding and event venue located in Erin, Ontario. We host approximately 20–25 weddings and events each season, creating unforgettable experiences for our couples and their guests in a beautiful countryside setting.

Position Overview The Venue Assistant works alongside the Venue Manager to help deliver exceptional weddings and events from setup through final cleanup. This role combines event coordination with hands-on execution and is responsible for helping oversee venue operations, supporting vendors, coordinating event activities, and ensuring our couples and guests have an outstanding experience.

This is a seasonal, event-based position operating June through October. We typically host approximately 20–25 events each season, primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Some weekends may include two events, one event, or no shifts.

The Venue Assistant plays an significant leadership role by supporting the Venue Manager, helping supervise Venue Associates, and ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone looking for casual part-time, seasonal, or supplemental work.

Schedule

- Seasonal position (June–October)
- Approximately 20–25 events per season




- Weekend availability required
- Primarily Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
- 12–13 hour shifts on event days
- Schedule varies based on bookings

Responsibilities

Event Operations

- Assist the Venue Manager with the successful execution of weddings and events.
- Help coordinate event setup, timelines, and transitions throughout the day.
- Ensure the venue is prepared before guests arrive.
- Monitor venue presentation, cleanliness, and guest experience throughout the event.
- Assist with rehearsals as required.

Vendor & Client Support

- Welcome vendors upon arrival.
- Ensure vendors understand and follow venue policies.
- Answer vendor questions and coordinate with the Venue Manager when needed.
- Support couples, wedding planners, and vendors throughout the day.

Team Leadership

- Assist in directing Venue Associates throughout the event.
- Help assign and prioritize tasks.
- Ensure setup, cleanup, and operational responsibilities are completed.
- Lead by example and promote an "everyone helps" culture.

Guest Experience

- Monitor guest areas and washrooms throughout the event.
- Help resolve guest concerns professionally.
- Ensure ceremony and reception spaces remain clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Assist with ceremony-to-reception transitions.

Event Support

- Assist with décor setup and teardown.
- Coordinate the packing of décor and personal belongings.
- Help transport décor and supplies using the venue golf cart when required.




- Assist with venue cleanup and closing procedures.
- Step in wherever needed to support the success of the event.

Qualifications

- Experience in hospitality, weddings, events, or customer service is preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Positive attitude with a strong customer service focus.
- Comfortable performing physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
- Reliable transportation to and from the venue.

Pay: $17.60-$25.00 per hour
