There is an exciting opportunity for a Building Operator to join our Commercial Property Management Team. The Building Operator is responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and smooth operation. In this role you will work with Property Managers to provide a high level of service and appearance to all buildings and properties. This role is based in Burnaby, BC.

What You Will Do

- Work with Property Management, Contractors, and staff to maintain buildings, suites, and common areas in “A” Class condition.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations, performing preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC (cooling towers, boilers, chillers, pumps, DDC controls) and all building sub‑systems (life safety equipment, fire suppression, power generators, sump pumps).




- Assist with supervision of tenant improvement projects and capital expenditure projects.
- Conduct tenant walkthrough inspections before handover and ensure all deficiencies are completed and signed off.
- Complete quality control checklists, document concerns with photos, and submit to Property Manager for review.
- Review and complete service requests submitted by tenants.
- Coordinate trades to complete additional required work.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.

What You Will Bring

- Previous experience with building systems (boiler, chiller, DDC, fire/life safety, controls, pumps, etc.) in a commercial setting; 4th or 5th Class Power Engineer/Operator certification preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience with commercial/retail/office/industrial building systems.
- Demonstrated experience with automation systems and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Willingness to work overtime during emergencies and availability for on‑call duty.
- Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary Range

$52,500 to $73,000
