What will you be doing Working as part of a team to design moderately complex mechanical equipment, tooling, and components to meet customer commitments. Developing design requirements and defining critical characteristics using engineering judgement, industry best practices, codes and standards, and input from subject matter experts. Gathering information on existing codes, standards, and bought-out items. Reviewing engineering drawings, calculating clearances and fits, and tolerance stack‑up. Taking engineering responsibility for drawings, other engineering documents, and the work of those supervised. Leading or participating in team meetings and design reviews. Generating design ideas based on experience, input from other subject matter experts, and owning an area of expertise. Preparing design documents for complex, multi‑discipline designs. Preparing test plans, reports,



and record sheets to demonstrate compliance with design requirements. Guiding the work of Mechanical Laboratory Technicians and other Mechanical Engineers in test execution. Other duties as assigned by your manager. Education At a minimum, a Bachelor's (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing, or membership in an engineering professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualifications for membership in that organization, is required. An advanced degree in engineering (MASc or PhD) is considered an asset. Experience Four to eight (4–8) years of mechanical engineering job experience and is a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario or eligible for licensure in Ontario. Experience in solving and understanding design problems which push the boundaries of traditional mechanical engineering is an asset and must be comfortable thriving at the edge of their understanding while simultaneously working to expand their knowledge.
