The Technical Specialist, Energy Management, provides energy management services to support the delivery of Client-Partner real property projects and programs. The incumbent provides advice, recommendations and technical guidance in areas such as Smart Building technology and greenhouse gas reduction. The Technical Specialist supports the Client Partners in net-zero-carbon planning, provides expert advice on the implementation of construction and renovation projects by reviewing design documents and provides technical advice in support of energy performance contracts. The incumbent prepares technical documents, supports feasibility study analyses, completes energy modelling and lifecycle cost analyses, identifies potential energy savings and evaluates and recommends available energy efficiency incentive programs. KEY AND PERIODICACTIVITIES The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive: Primary Complete complex energy management work (e.G. inspections, energy audits and simulations, marginal lifecycle cost calculations, plans, gap analyses, feasibility studies) Prepare energy requirements for statements of work to meet Client-Partner requirements Support measurement and verification of energy savings on projects and monitor energy performance Monitor and manage site energy consumption and energy bills Support monitoring of site greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and tracking reductions Implement and improve site’s Energy Management System, developing innovative strategies to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions Perform statistical analyses,



modelling and forecasting using tools and systems such as building energy management and simulation software (e.G. RETScreen, Equest) and Microsoft Power BI Promote, advocate for and raise awareness of energy reduction techniques Participate or support Client-Partners in forums, workshops, working groups and committees Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client Partners and/or stakeholders Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations Manage risk Other Carry out site environmental scans of energy use and decarbonization Prepare monthly reports (e.G. for internal clients and the Client-Partners) Other duties as assigned SKILLS General and Specific Knowledge Best practices, methods, trends and legislation in energy management, facility management and construction contract management ISO 50001 standards Knowledge of data modelling Process mapping and continuous improvement Energy pricing structures Project and risk management principles Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience Minimum : college diploma in engineering or related field with four years’ relevant experience,



or the equivalent; robust technical and theoretical background in energy and real property Preferred : university degree in one of the above fields and/or additional training in project management Other: professional certification may be required depending on position (e.G. Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, Certified Energy Manager, Certified RETScreen® Expert, Existing Building Commissioning, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design credential) Abilities Use applicable computer software, analytical tools and operating systems Effectively communicate technical/scientific concepts to a diverse audience Apply project and risk management techniques DEVELOPMENT ANDLEADERSHIP Provide functional guidance and advice to employees and Client-Partners WORKINGCONDITIONS Typical office environment with occasional travel Some work may be located on construction sites; incumbent may occasionally be required to wear basic safety equipment Check out your benefits Working with us offers excellent opportunities for growth and advancement—and entitles you to one of the job market’s best benefits packages valued at between 25 and 30% of your salary.
