Position Title: Senior Research & Project Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Remote within Ontario

Pay Range: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum (based on level of experience)

About the Indigenous Institutes Consortium (IIC)

The IIC represents the collective and collaborative efforts of its seven Indigenous-owned and operated post-secondary education and training institutes across Ontario. We work collaboratively to improve the outcomes of First Nation learners and strengthen our communities by providing high-quality post-secondary education and training to Indigenous learners.

We are growing and seeking a Senior Research & Project Manager, reporting to the Executive Director.

The Senior

Research & Project Manager will be responsible for leading complex research and policy initiatives, designing rigorous qualitative and quantitative research approaches, managing and coordinating projects, and providing strategic insights to support organizational goals. This position requires a seasoned professional with senior-level expertise in research design, policy development, data analysis, project management, knowledge translation, and stakeholder engagement to address complex issues and drive impactful solutions.

Key areas of responsibility:

- Lead advanced primary and secondary research, including research design, policy and data analysis, literature reviews, jurisdictional scans, trend analysis, and identification of promising and best practices
- Develop research frameworks, methodologies, tools, and work plans that align with organizational priorities, community context, ethical research practices, and policy objectives
- Develop policy options and conduct SWOT analysis
- Prepare proposals, reports, briefing notes, and presentations
- Develop and manage project work plans, timelines, deliverables, budgets, risks, and reporting to ensure initiatives are completed on schedule and aligned with organizational priorities
- Interpret complex data sets and statistics, data visualization and the use of techniques to support evidence-based policy recommendations
- Provide senior-level analysis and synthesis of complex evidence,



translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership, partners, policy makers, and Indigenous Institutes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop research papers, including conducting roundtables, facilitating meetings, and presenting
- Coordinate cross-functional project teams, working groups, and stakeholder engagement activities, including tracking action items, decisions, and follow-up
- Design evaluation frameworks, collect feedback and make recommendations
- Ensure research quality, accuracy, integrity, and relevance through critical review of methods, data sources, analysis, findings, and recommendations
- Keeping abreast of emerging trends, changes in regulation, legislation, funding priorities, and political dynamics
- Assist in logistical planning of workshops, forums, symposiums, meetings
- Support departmental strategic planning and assist with overall department evaluation
- Work collaboratively with the IIC Team
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and quality review to support research capacity
- Participate in meetings as required

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Data Science, Business Administration or related field (Master’s degree considered an asset)
- 7 years’ senior-level experience in applied research, policy analysis, project management, and policy development, preferably in the post-secondary, Indigenous education, government, or non-profit sector
- Demonstrated ability to lead research projects, design appropriate qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches, and translate evidence into strategic advice, reports, presentations, and policy recommendations




- Demonstrated experience managing projects from planning through implementation, including developing work plans, coordinating deliverables, monitoring timelines, and reporting on progress
- A demonstrated knowledge of the Indigenous culture and traditions, post-secondary sector, policy, and government
- Exceptional written, research, and verbal communication skills, as well as critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of theories, principles, and methodologies of policy development and project management
- Organized, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team in a remote work environment
- Excellent people management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines in a work from home environment
- Strong interpersonal skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated expertise in data collection, analysis, and presentation
- Strong knowledge of research ethics, data quality, culturally responsive research practices, knowledge translation, and communicating complex findings to diverse audiences
- Ability to travel, primarily within Ontario and occasionally across Canada
