STEP Engineering is a professional engineering consulting firm located in Calgary, Alberta. We are a multi-discipline organization specializing in the oil and gas industry. Our goal is to provide engineering services of the highest quality in order to meet the specific needs of every client.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager with 15+ years of experience to lead our engineering projects from initiation through close-out. The role involves full project lifecycle management, including scope, budget, scheduling, and resourcing, as well as acting as the primary client contact and ensuring engineering deliverables meet quality and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with project engineers, drafting teams, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered accurately, on time, and within budget.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering projects from proposal/scope definition through execution and close-out.
- Act as the primary client interface, managing expectations and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, including design basis, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Oversee project controls, including cost forecasting, progress reporting, and change management.
- Direct and coordinate the project engineering and drafting teams to ensure design deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs;, equipment/line/instrumentation lists) meet project requirements.
- Review and evaluate vendor design data, calculations, and drawings, and liaise with suppliers and clients.




- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
- Ensure all projects comply with regulatory requirements (AER, ABSA, BCER, and other relevant agencies) and internal quality/HSE standards.
- Support proposal preparation and cost/schedule estimating for new project opportunities.
- Mentor and provide leadership guidance to project engineers and junior staff.

Qualification and Education Requirements:

- Minimum of 15+ years of relevant project management experience in an EPCM/engineering consulting setting within the oil and gas industry.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
- P.Eng. certification with APEGA required.
- PMP certification considered an asset.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering multi-disciplinary engineering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, and risk/change management principles.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, dynamic workplace.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team.
