Our team is always up for a challenge – if you can think of it, we can do it.Role and ResponsibilitiesWe are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability lead a small Mechanical Design team (of no more than 10), and provide support, solutions and ensure the successful delivery of robust, high-quality Mechanical Design projects. An ideal candidate will have experience in both the Automation and Automotive industry using AutoCad, Solidworks, and NX, and have a good understanding of fixtures, experience using BIW/NAAMS, developing 3D models for custom machinery design, and use of process simulators for simulation of cells.QualificationsMinimum of (8) years of related work experience.Ability to use 3D scanning software to reverse engineer design and validate builds.Must demonstrate the ability to use AutoCAD for layoutsMust have knowledge of safety systems related to robotics cells and machinery safety design.Knowledge of common machine shop techniques, drafting principles and be capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.Job DescriptionLead and mentor a small team of Mechanical Engineers (both internal and external), fostering a collaborative environment and supporting professional development.Liaise with customers and suppliers in a professional manner.Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness in the development of equipment, process, and products.Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature,



pressure, force, as related to machine and tool designs.Review drawings, accurate material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes and hardness.Produce product drawings, detailed drawings and bill of materials for equipment, subassemblies or products using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Create drawings of existing tooling using precision measuring equipment such as calipers (vernier/dial/digital) and micrometers.Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (OSHA, CE, or customer specifications).Perform on-site investigations to determine mechanical design requirements for both new equipment and modifications to existing equipment.Communicate task progress to staff and communicate all design changes to clients.Formalize and update drawing documentation.Overtime will be required on an as need basis, this will be driven by workloadExperience and Education:A Mechanical Engineering Degree or diplomaP.ENG designation would be an asset5 years experience in Industrial Automation is a must5 years experience in the Automotive Industry is an assetMust be able to work both independently and within a teamPossess strong written and verbal communication skills5 years experience in AutoCAD and SolidworksPossess strong interpersonal skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office applicationsRemunerationAs a progressive employer, Ascension Automation Solutions strives to offer competitive wages and vacation packages, while supporting the continual growth and development of our employees.
