Role Description The Senior Terrestrial Biologist or Ecologist will lead and execute field and desktop studies related to terrestrial ecosystems, flora, and fauna for infrastructure and development projects in Canada.

Responsibilities include designing and conducting ecological surveys, habitat assessments, and species inventories, as well as analyzing data and preparing technical reports, impact assessments, and mitigation plans. The role involves providing expert input to environmental assessments and permitting processes, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, and engaging with clients, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous communities as appropriate.

The Senior Terrestrial

Biologist or Ecologist will mentor junior staff, support quality assurance of deliverables, and contribute to proposal writing and business development. This is a full-time,



on-site role based in Canada.

Qualifications

Solid terrestrial ecology and biology expertise, including experience with habitat classification, species identification, and biodiversity assessments.

Demonstrated skills in ecological fieldwork design and implementation, including survey methodologies and data collection in varied terrain and climates.

Proficiency in environmental assessment and regulatory processes in Canada, including impact analysis and development of mitigation and monitoring plans.

Experience preparing clear, structured technical reports, including data interpretation, mapping inputs, and recommendations for project teams and clients.

Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate findings to non-specialist stakeholders, including clients and regulators.

Experience mentoring or supervising junior biologists/ecologists and contributing to project planning and delivery.

Familiarity with relevant software tools (e.g., GIS, data analysis applications, standard office productivity tools).

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, with progressive experience in terrestrial ecosystems.

Knowledge of Indigenous perspectives on land and resource use and experience engaging respectfully with communities is an asset.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work in the field as project needs require.
