The Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for Sessional Instructors to teach the courses listed below for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms (pending funding and sufficient enrolments). The Fall 2026 term runs from Tuesday September 1 to Friday December 4, followed by the Registrar final exam period, which runs Tuesday December 8 to Friday December 18. The Winter 2027 term runs from Monday January 11 to Tuesday April 13, followed by the Registrar final exam period, which runs Friday April 16 to Tuesday April 27. Please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.

Courses of Instruction

FALL 2026

- KNES 244: Introduction to the Sociology of Movement Cultures An introduction to sociological perspectives on movement cultures (e.g., sport, dance, physical education, exercise and fitness), with a particular focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. This posting is for both the lecture and lab components of the course.

- Lab: F, 9:00-10:00

- KNES 311: Leadership Foundations Contemporary leadership best practices with a focus on physical activity, pedagogy and sport coaching. Linking leadership theory with critical reflection.

- Lecture: M/W, 12:00-13:15

- KNES 331: Foundations of Coaching The fundamental principles of creating an effective training environment for the developing athlete.

- Lecture: M, 14:00-14:50
- Lab: M, 15:00-16:50 (lab taught with support of a Graduate Assistant Tutor)

WINTER 2027

- KNES 355: Human Growth and Development The physiological, anatomical,



emotional and social changes in human growth and development, with a view to the planning and selection of appropriate programs in physical education, sport, and dance.
- Lecture: T/R, 8:00-9:15

- KNES 506: Cerebral Blood Flow A comprehensive examination of brain blood flow regulation and how this system is affected by exercise.

- Lecture: T/R, 9:30-10:45
- Note: Open to online asynchronously; applicants should state preferred modality in cover letter.

Position Requirements

- Earned a PhD in Kinesiology or a related field; a master's degree considered for some courses.
- Evidence of successful teaching at the university level related to the content of the course(s) applied for.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups.
- Experience teaching virtually considered an asset, although all courses offered are in-person.
