Course number and title: PSY424H1F (LEC0201) – Social Psychology of Interpersonal Relationships

Course description: This lecture course focuses on the social psychology of interpersonal relationships between individuals, especially romantic or close relationships and friendships. It surveys what social psychologists have learned about the development, maintenance, disruption or dissolution of personal relationships, as well as current social psychological theories of interpersonal relationships.

Estimated TA support: 90 hours

Estimated course enrolment: 50 students

Class schedule: In-Person, Thursdays 2 - 5 p.m.

The delivery method for this course is currently in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

Salary

Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48

Sessional Lecturer I, Long Term: $10,699.22

Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22

Sessional Lecturer II, Long Term: $10,953.96

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96

Sessional Lecturer III, Long Term: $11,228.90

*Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications:



Completion of PhD studies in Social Psychology; demonstrated scholarship in the area of the social psychology of relationships; past experience and demonstrated excellence TAing and/or teaching courses in social psychology.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching social psychology and relationship courses at the University of Toronto’s St. George Campus.

Description of duties: Lecturing; counselling students; setting final exam; invigilating and reporting final marks and; supervising course TAs.
