We are seeking a Junior Structural Engineer for our Asset Integrity & Reliability Management Division. The role is hybrid, based in Vancouver at the Broadway Tech Centre with occasional short‑term travel to client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural systems in bulk handling, mining, ports, and heavy industrial sectors (e.g., bulk loading/unloading infrastructure, industrial buildings, marine structures, equipment support structures, conveying equipment).
- Prepare technical reports, design documents, structural repair packages, and construction drawings in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
- Act as Engineer of Record on condition inspection and assessment projects for multiple clients, requiring short‑term travel.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and third parties to ensure project delivery and build professional relationships.
- Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Contribute to project planning, management, cost estimation, proposal writing, and scheduling.
- Participate in internal technical reviews, ensuring design quality and constructability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC.
- 5 to 10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial facilities.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian design codes and standards for steel, concrete, and timber structures (CSA, NBCC).
- Familiarity with American design codes (AISC, ACI, ASCE) is a benefit.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (RISA, SAP2000, STAAD).
- Experience with 2D and 3D drafting software (AutoCAD, Revit) is a benefit.
- Proven experience in field investigations, condition assessments, and/or field reviews.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Solid written and verbal technical report writing skills in English.
- Willingness to travel to conduct field inspections of heavy industrial equipment.
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
