About the Role
We are seeking a versatile, persistent product engineer who can build reusable components across the tech stack and advocate for the time to do so. As a Product Engineer, you will own a large portion of one of our products, taking projects end‑to‑end from research and design to implementation and release.
Responsibilities
- Own large features – from concept to shipping – wearing hats traditionally held by product and design teams.
- Research competitors, write product specs, create wireframes, and design user interfaces.
- Implement end‑to‑end solutions, including backend logic, database schemas, and front‑end components.
- Build and maintain reusable building blocks (e.g., declarative filter architecture, signing‑off flow).
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and other engineers to integrate features.
- Provide mock/research-based prototypes to validate concepts with customers.
Qualifications
- Strong full‑stack engineering skills and a willingness to tackle any part of the stack.
- Experience delivering features with significant product and technical ambiguity.
- Ability to balance speed and quality, delivering high‑quality code at an ambitious pace.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to vet decisions with stakeholders.
- Proactive in creating leverage through automation, tooling, and abstraction.
- Prior ownership of end‑to‑end projects and a desire to grow independently.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and equity.
- 10‑year exercise window for stock options.
- Unlimited PTO, with encouragement to use it.
- Minimum 12 weeks fully paid parental leave.
- Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget.
- $100/month education budget for conferences and learning.
- Top‑tier health insurance in the US (100% premiums paid) and high‑quality supplemental coverage in other regions.
Interview Process
- Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15–30 minutes).
- Technical screen: pair programming in our codebase (1 hour).
- Three non‑coding interviews focused on product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈3 h 15 min total).
- Optionally, an additional 30‑minute recruiter screen depending on bandwidth.
Hiring Commitment & EEO Statement
We are an equal‑prospect employer and do not require a specific tech stack background. We favor fundamentals, learning agility, and independence. Qualifications and people aspects are the primary focus.
Compensation Range: CA$173K – CA$326K.
