Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Support Mentor to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of mothers and children facing mental health challenges, substance use and addiction recovery, and complex life situations.
In this role, you will provide personalized guidance, emotional support, and practical tools to help families build resilience, navigate recovery, and foster a safe, stable home environment. Your empathetic and trauma-informed approach will help empower mothers and their children to achieve their personal goals and enhance their overall well-being.
While the primary focus is on holistic family support and addiction recovery, experience working alongside individuals with diverse abilities and unique needs is a valuable asset. Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with daily activities, including personal care, child care, and household tasks, ensuring safety and dignity at all times
- Provide individualized compassionate support tailored to each person’s needs, preferences, and goals
- Use effective communication skills to engage with clients, families, and team members.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed schedules and protocols
- Provide caregiving support that promotes independence while respecting personal boundaries
- Monitor clients’ well-being regularly, including body language and non-verbal ques, noting changes or concerns and reporting them promptly to supervisors or healthcare professionals
- Foster a positive and engaging environment through active encouragement, patience, and empathy
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in caregiving roles is highly preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices is a strong asset
- Demonstrated understanding of medication administration procedures in a caregiving context
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to supporting independence and personal growth
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules in a dynamic environment
