Make a difference in the lives of youth at Covenant House as a Full time Street Outreach Worker in Downtown Toronto. Focus on building trust and providing essential support in community settings. This role requires engaging with youth experiencing homelessness using trauma-informed and harm reduction approaches.
You will address immediate needs, including food and crisis intervention, while fostering connections to long-term services such as housing and education. Emphasizing safety and professionalism is crucial in this impactful position. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct outreach in encampments, shelters, and community spaces
Build trusting relationships with youth using empathetic engagement
Provide basic necessities and crisis interventions in office
Supply harm reduction tools such as naloxone kits
Assist youth with navigation to external support services Requirements:
Diploma in Child & Youth Work or Social Work
2–3 years experience with vulnerable youth
Knowledge of mental health and trauma-informed practice
Comfort with crisis de-escalation
