Role
Fully Skilled Level 9 Technician – under the direction of senior technicians and engineers, solve complex technical problems using established methods. Provide testing and calibration of high‑complexity systems, assist in test planning, and support engineering design and specifications.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assemble or modify experimental setups or test equipment and models based on verbal instructions.
Assemble, modify and verify equipment test benches.
Perform tests, experiments, troubleshooting, alignment and calibration of complex units and systems.
Record and analyze data related to test or experiment results; prepare reports and make recommendations.
Monitor and test units in thermal chambers or vacuum chambers.
Assist in the preparation of test plans and procedures.
Participate in developing detailed designs and performance specifications for components, systems, experiments, and processes.
Coordinate assigned test activity to ensure equipment availability, documentation, and scheduling.
Direct and review the work of less experienced technicians.
Assist in preparing time and cost estimates in project or operational planning when requested.
Plan and perform non‑routine tasks involving limited technical/organizational and scientific principles.
Work in compliance with internal procedures and occupational health and safety rules.
Search for documents and parts using MDA’s electronic tools (WebPLM, InforLN, etc.).
Use the inventory purchase request process.
Open a test non‑conformance report (TNR).
Perform other related duties as required.
Assigned Level 9 Tasks (Digital)
Perform thermal and vacuum thermal testing; possess knowledge of thermal and vacuum chambers, controllers, and data acquisition systems.
Use complex digital oscilloscopes and related measurement instruments for differential measurements, eye pattern, IQ, phase, jitter, etc., independently.
Build and calibrate test benches independently.
Conduct basic EMC tests: susceptibility and radiated susceptibility.
Produce detailed and complete parts lists using MDA electronic tools.
Special Considerations
Successful candidates must obtain and hold a security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
