Therapy Assistant
Responsibilities
Develop and implement client activation programs
Carry out individual therapeutic programs as per the direction of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist
Participate in care planning, evaluation and documentation
Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
Be able to work occasional evenings and weekends as required
Qualifications
A Certificate in Activation Techniques in Gerontology or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience in a long term care setting is preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of and compliance with protected work practices
Proven communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions
A demonstrated ability to provide high-quality service with consideration for equity and accessibility
Physical ability to perform the essential duties of the job
Therapy Assistant Salary Information
The hourly rate range for this position is $32.35 to $33.45.
Conditions of Employment
All applicants are expected to comply with the Region of Durham's Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct Policies throughout the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check dated within six (6) months from date of hire. Additionally, tuberculosis screening will be required in accordance with the FLTCAct (O.Reg. 246/22). Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will also be collected. Finally, compliance with the Mask Fit Testing Program is required and will be coordinated as part of the orientation process.
