Solus is a network of Aviva‑owned auto‑body collision shops servicing our customers across Ontario and Quebec, with plans to expand nationally. Each site is primarily an auto‑body collision repair shop with varying office space; the main site is in Mississauga (≈ 50,000 sq ft). In a fast‑paced repair environment, the Health & Safety Manager will lead all aspects of a Health & Safety program for Solus Canada, independent of Aviva Canada. Responsibilities include building and implementing a current Health & Safety Management System (HSMS), aligning with provincial regulations, Aviva Business Standards, and governance reporting, while fostering a strong safety culture through stakeholder relationships and senior‑executive partnership.What You’ll DoDesign, develop, and maintain a new HSMS within the auto‑body collision repair industry.Investigate, assess, and control safety incidents, hazards, and risks.Design, develop, and maintain training programs and coordinate with 3rd‑party providers for legislative training (e.G., First Aid, JHSC Certification).Communicate safety expectations and deliver training to improve awareness, compliance, and safe work practices for technicians and office staff.Direct the Safety Committees (JHSC), safety representatives, management teams,
and regional leads in administration, auditing, and inspections required to meet local and Aviva Business Standard requirements.Support day‑to‑day activities and special projects.Conduct auto‑body shop visits across multiple locations, vendor reviews, and health and safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections.Work closely with HR, Risk, Facilities, and site leaders to achieve full HSMS compliance.Escalate critical incidents appropriately.Influence senior leadership, managers, technicians, and employees to promote a proactive safety culture.Collaborate with Operations, HR, and shop management to address safety risks.Deliver effective safety communication and employee engagement programs.Prepare and present health & safety updates to Solus leadership.Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, accountability, and engagement.Build strong partnerships across all organizational levels between Solus and Aviva Canada to drive safety initiatives and achieve business objectives.What You’ll BringBachelor’s degree.Occupational Health & Safety Certificate.Bi‑lingual preferred (English/French).First Aid training.A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in an H&S management role.Computer skills (Excel, Word,
