Every role contributes to creating stronger families, healthier communities, and brighter futures for children across Oregon.Position SummaryEnsures, supports, and promotes each child’s learning, well‑being, and development in cooperation with their parents and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards, USDA, and day care licensing regulations. Based on parent goals, classroom observations and individual child assessments, the teacher plans a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum that meets the needs of all children and their families.Essential FunctionsEnsure a secure, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool‑age childrenPlan and implement curriculum aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and child development best practicesIndividualize instruction based on observations, assessments, and family goalsConduct developmental screenings, assessments, and maintain child portfolios and documentationPromote children’s cognitive, language, social‑emotional, and physical developmentCommunicate regularly and respectfully with families about child progress and classroom activitiesSupport family engagement through conferences, home visits, and classroom involvement opportunitiesProvide leadership, guidance, and coaching to classroom staff and volunteersCollaborate with education, health,



mental health, and disabilities staff to support children’s needsMaintain accurate records, program documentation, and compliance requirementsPromote healthy practices related to nutrition, safety, and overall wellnessModel positive guidance strategies and responsive teaching practicesMaintain confidentiality of child and family informationParticipate in staff meetings, trainings, and program planning activitiesMaintain regular and reliable attendancePerform other related duties as assignedEducation And Experience RequirementsPreschool Teacher A – $23.99‑$26.65 hourly ($26.38‑$29.32 hourly in Metro locations)Associate’s degree in Early childhood education or child development; orAny field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education or child development AND 6 months of actual work experience teaching preschool age children.Preschool Teacher B – $25.67‑$28.52 hourly ($29.42‑$31.37 hourly in Metro locations)Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early childhood education or child development; orAny field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education or child development AND 6 months of actual work experience teaching preschool age children.1 Oregon Registry Step 9 or higher per degree or college coursework pathway2 Oregon Registry Step 10 or higher per degree or college coursework pathwayMetro locations include Washington County and Multnomah County sites.Placement within the range is determined by factors such as relevant experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.BenefitsOCDC offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well‑being, and work–life balance.
