Program Support Nurse
Health Services, Long Term Care
Status: Contract Full Time; up to 18 months
Salary Range: $50.50/hr-$60.20/hr

Location: Sheridan Villa Long Term Care Home 2460 Truscott Dr, Mississauga ON L5J 3Z8
Hours of work: 37.5 hours weekly

Reporting to the Director of Care you will provide Centre infection prevention management, surveillance and outbreak management.
Responsibilities
Provide educational leadership and training to assist staff in the performance of duties, as they relate to resident-centered care
Assess the development and training needs of the multidisciplinary team, and coordinate resources accordingly
Provide training and monitoring of compliance in accordance with administrative policies and procedures of the Centre, Long Term Care Program Standards, LCHSA Accreditation Standards, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and other applicable legislation to enhance competency of staff
Perform annual review and update of the infection prevention and control program and the staff development program
Collaborate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the education plan based on the approved education budget
Identify and report potential outbreaks in the Centre with recommendations based on infection control findings
Chair the Outbreak Management Team during communicable disease outbreaks
Qualifications
Current certificate of registration as with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Baccalaureate Degree, Gerontology certification and experience as an educator in Long Term Care is preferred
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is mandatory
Preference given to candidates with training in PIECES, Transfers and Lifts for Caregivers, MDS, palliative care, adult education techniques, and resident centered care models (i.e. Gentle Care, Edenization)
Strong oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of appropriate computer applications
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and ability to work independently and within a team structure
Must demonstrate flexibility in work hours as position will be required to be available to work as needed for evenings and weekends related to outbreaks and training
Compensation
As per the Collective Agreement (ONA)

2460 Truscott Drive, Mississauga (Sheridan Villa LTC)
Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Weekend, evening and night shifts may be required.
