Journeyperson Welder-Railcar Repair and Shop Fabrication We are seeking a skilled journeyperson Welder to join our railcar repair and Fabrication team. The successful candidate will perform structural repairs, component replacement, and custom fabrication on railcars and related equipment in an outdoor environment. This position requires strong welding skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

About the work Work conditions Outdoor work environment with occasional indoor shop work.
Exposure to welding fumes, noise, dust and varying temperatures.
Standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting through the shift.
Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
What you will do Perform railcar repairs including structural, mechanical, and fabrication-related welding tasks.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, repair procedures and work orders.
Fabricate, fit, and weld steel components using approved welding procedures.
Conduct repairs on railcar bodies, underframe, hoppers, tanks, and associated components.
Operate welding and fabrication equipment including FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, grinders, and other shop tools.




Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Maintain accurate repair records and documentation.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Assist with shop housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
Collaborate with supervisors, inspectors, and fellow tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
What you will bring Minimum 3 years of welding and fabrication experience.
Proficiency in FCAW and SMAW welding processes.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
Experience operating fabrication equipment and power tools.
Strong understanding of protected work practices.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Reliable transportation and strong attendance record.
Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
Previous railcar, railway, heavy equipment, or industrial repair experience.
CWB welding certification
Skid Steer, Truck Mounted Crane, Aerial Work Platform, Telehandler, Front End Loader, or Trackmobile experience.
