About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:
Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator (Infrastructure)’s key responsibilities are storage area maintenance, equipment operation, and materials handling.
Primary Responsibilities:
Inspection of equipment before and after use to ensure proper functionality
Loading, unloading, and moving materials to appropriate storage areas
Excavation of trenches for buried services
Following all safety procedures while operating equipment
Performing regular maintenance (refuelling, fluid checks, lubrication) and minor repairs when necessary
Reporting equipment issues, unusual conditions, and spillage immediately to Supervisor
Staging materials to be brought down for Underground Operations
Maintaining good housekeeping at storage areas
Snow removal during winter months
Other activities as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
Possess a valid Canadian driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract
Minimum 5 years’ experience as heavy equipment operator (excavator, loader, and forklift)
Slinging and rigging training
Ability to identify difference between normal wear, unusual wear and damage
Knowledge of WHMIS, including familiarity with chemical products’ use, disposal and safety data sheet applications
Completed secondary school or GED
A commitment to health, safety, environment, and community
Works effectively independently and collaboratively
Ability to thrive in an environment of change; must be creative and flexible
Working Conditions
Rotational shifts, 7x7 schedule (possible day and night shift rotation)
Physical Requirements:
Role is physically demanding
Must be capable of working in adverse conditions and inclement weather
Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to 25 kg, walking on rough terrain, standing for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating equipment
Pay or shift range: $34.98 CAD to $59.53 CAD
