We are currently seeking a Research Facilitator to join our Office of Research and Innovation team.
Job Overview
The Office of Research Services (ORS) supports the academic research mission of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and is responsible for the oversight of all scholarly research activities at KPU, providing assistance and services to all employees and students engaged in research, scholarly activity and creative achievement.
As an integral member of the ORS team, the Research Facilitator is responsible for working with research active scholars: to help establish research agendas and build scholarly portfolios; to support research clusters (Institutes or Centres); and to design and facilitate creative approaches and knowledge mobilization strategies to promote KPU research and scholarly activity. The incumbent will liaise with internal and external communities of interest to support researchers with proposal development, source funding and knowledge transfer.
This is a temporary full-time position with a term of approximately two years.
Education and Experience
A doctorate degree or an equivalent combination of a Master’s degree, training and experience.
Previous experience as a researcher in university environment, government projects or agencies is highly desirable.
Knowledge of University research and research resources and procedures is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Expert knowledge of Tri-Agency and other funding opportunities, policies,
program requirements and application procedures.
Thorough understanding of research processes across different disciplines.
Strong computer skills, including the ability to work with a broad range of internal and external information system tools.
Exceptional decision-making skills, problem solving abilities, and discretion in handling confidential matters.
Exceptional communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Highly motivated and creative to meet the challenges within a complex and evolving university setting.
Ability to liaise effectively and diplomatically with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and to advocate on behalf of the University and its research community.
Strong evidence of success in persuading, influencing and negotiating with peers, colleagues and external contacts.
Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize in a demanding work environment.
As per the KPU-BCGEU Collective Agreement, qualified internal applicants within the BCGEU bargaining unit are given first consideration in filling this position. Internal applicants must apply by 11:59pm on the internal closing date in order to be considered as an internal applicant. Internal applications received after the closing date will be considered as an external applicant.
Salary Information
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
