Position: Building Condition Assessor This is a fixed-term, project-based opportunity with field work required in the Lac La Ronge area in Saskatchewan over the period of September to December 2026. Reporting to the Project Lead, the Building Condition Assessor will perform comprehensive condition assessments on a variety of residential property types for the purpose of identifying and reporting on building component condition and lifespan status. This role works alongside a Junior Assessor on-site, and remotely with a larger office-based team. Using a customized data collection tool, you will perform building condition assessments according to Community Power’s standards. Building condition results will be used by the customer to inform decisions about future capital planning on a larger scale across many homes. The successful applicant for this role will be comfortable dealing with regularly changing schedules and field conditions. You work effectively in small, collaborative teams and drive work forward autonomously. A strong comprehension of data entry systems and the ability to learn and adapt to new software is critical. You enjoy sharing knowledge about your expertise and are approachable, friendly, and able to communicate to home occupants without judgement. Cultural sensitivity and respect when working in Indigenous communities is essential to success in this role. This position is based remotely and requires extensive travel and field work throughout rural and remote Saskatchewan. The successful applicant must have a adaptable schedule which allows them to be away from home for periods of 5–12 consecutive days.




Core Accountabilities Travel to the Lac La Ronge area in Saskatchewan to perform building condition assessments.
Assess the condition of all standard housing components such as foundations, windows and doors, roofs, attics, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, wall assemblies, and renewable energy systems.
Using mobile software, record all assessment findings including the quantity, types, and estimated remaining lifespan of all applicable housing components.
Provide detailed notes and recommendations on identified repairs and home maintenance needs to support cost estimating, budgeting, and planning at a community level.
Discuss housing concerns and energy-use issues with home occupants that may not be identified through a visual assessment.
Produce formal assessment reports that provide a clear presentation of all findings.
Summarize and communicate assessments findings to the Project Lead in a clear and actionable way.
Collaborate with Community Power’s team of housing specialists to ensure processes continuously meet key project requirements and outcomes.
Oversee and support a junior team member during building condition assessments, including task coordination, field guidance, data quality review, application of Radon testing equipment, performing air quality tests and documentation support.




Support in the analysis of aggregate assessment results to identify common issues, trends, and valuable insights for the customer.
Use a variety of software to support data collection, assessment reporting, internal expense submissions, time tracking, and other tasks as required.
Support estimating, quality assurance, and related assessment activities as required.
Qualifications An active home inspectors’ certification from a nationally recognized agency such as InterNACHI or CAHPI would be an asset for this role, or 5+ years of direct experience in residential construction.
A thorough understanding of building science principles is required for this role.
Experience with radon and indoor air quality testing would be an asset.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and the ability to quickly learn new software is required for this role.
Experience in working with Indigenous and/or remote communities would be an asset.
A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
