This permanent full time role, reporting to the Manager of Planning and Climate Action, is a vital addition to the Planning Department. You will require Level I Building Inspector and Plumbing Inspector certifications to handle building and plumbing permit inquiries while ensuring adherence to the British Columbia Building Code. This position emphasizes collaboration and motivation to enhance the efficiency of the Building Department towards exceptional community service.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and approve building and plumbing permit applications
• Conduct inspections according to certification levels
• Respond to inquiries about local bylaws and codes
• Collaborate with team members for service improvement
• Assist in enhancing the Building Department’s efficiency
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Level I Building Inspector BOABC Certification
• Level I Plumbing Inspector POABC Certification
• One year of experience as a municipal building official
• Valid BC Driver’s License – Class 5
