Our client, a well-established Tier 1 automotive supplier located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), is seeking an experienced Coatings Engineer to join its Engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about coating technologies, process optimization, and continuous improvement within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing Lead initiatives to improve coating performance, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
Develop, validate, and optimize coating processes for automotive components, ensuring consistent production results.
Evaluate new coating materials, chemical formulations, and application methods through testing and analysis.
Monitor and support electrocoating (E-Coat), powder coating, and related finishing processes to maximize quality and reliability.
Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues and implement long-term process improvements.
Analyze production data, identify process trends, and recommend corrective actions to improve throughput and reduce defects.
Support product launches, process validation activities, and continuous improvement projects.
Develop and maintain process documentation, operating standards, and quality procedures while ensuring compliance with automotive industry requirements.




Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and support testing activities related to coating performance and process control.
Ensure manufacturing processes comply with environmental, health & safety, and quality standards.
What We're Looking For Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
3–5+ years of experience working with industrial coating systems within a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience with E-Coat, powder coating, paint systems, or surface finishing technologies is highly preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience leading process improvement and manufacturing optimization projects.
Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Experience interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models is considered an asset.
