Externship Overview An externship is an unpaid educational experience at Invermere Veterinary Hospital, a general practice located in Invermere, BC. Interns gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience in an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and their caretakers.

Responsibilities - Gather patient histories.

- Perform physical exams.
- Create treatment plans.
- Conduct diagnostics.
- Assist or perform dentistry services.
- Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures.
- Manage patients medically.
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Eligibility & Duration Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on the student and hospital schedules.



Third‑ and fourth‑year veterinary students are encouraged to participate.

Stipend

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
