With a strong and growing portfolio of work throughout British Columbia, their Abbotsford office is seeking a Senior Architect or Senior Architectural Designer to join their leadership team. About The Role
Reporting to senior leadership,
you'll be responsible for leading projects from the earliest planning stages through design development, permitting, construction documentation, and construction administration.
You will oversee project planning, coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams, manage project schedules and budgets, and serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the life of each project. Success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable leading design discussions, solving technical challenges, and managing the day to day delivery of complex architectural projects.
While the firm delivers projects across a broad range of sectors, experience leading multifamily wood frame residential developments is essential, as this represents a significant portion of the current workload.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural projects from concept through construction completion
Develop project work plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements
Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams throughout all phases of project delivery
Lead design development while ensuring projects remain technically coordinated and buildable
Oversee permit submissions and coordinate with municipalities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction
Review and coordinate construction documentation to maintain quality and consistency
Conduct site visits, field reviews, and support construction administration activities
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and municipal authorities
Monitor project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and overall project performance
Mentor and support junior architects, designers, and technical staff
Qualifications
Registered Architect or experienced Senior Architectural Designer with formal architectural education
8+ years of architectural experience within Canada
Strong experience leading multifamily wood frame residential projects is essential
Additional experience across commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed use projects is considered a strong asset
Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, consultant coordination, and client management
Strong understanding of the BC Building Code, municipal approval processes, and permitting requirements
Experience coordinating structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, landscape, and other consulting disciplines
Strong proficiency with Autodesk Revit, with working knowledge of AutoCAD considered an asset
Knowledge of BC Energy Step Code and sustainable building practices is considered an asset
Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills
