Job Summary and Requirements
This is for one (1) full-time permanent position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

The Human Resources branch supports the entire department as it operates across the Yukon. We believe in being supportive, approachable and available to each other, our client managers and our employees.

As a key member of the Human Resources team, the Manager, Health and Safety serves as the department's subject matter expert in occupational health and safety, providing strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.



This position is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving departmental health and safety programs, policies, systems, and practices in alignment with legislative requirements and departmental priorities.

Essential Qualifications

Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Administration or related field

Significant experience in the workplace health and safety field conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections and incident investigations, preferably in a government setting

Experience leading projects, managing change initiatives, and driving continuous improvement in organizational health and safety performance

Experience writing, interpreting and applying health and safety policies, guidelines and/or legislation, preferably in a government setting

Experience chairing and/or facilitating committees and meetings, preferably health and safety related

Experience creating, organizing and managing online content, preferably on SharePoint, would be an asset

Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of employment: Class 5 Driver's license

Job Requirements: Occasional travel within Whitehorse and to Yukon communities
