About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Civil / Structural Estimator to lead the development of accurate, competitive, and well-supported estimates for civil, structural, and concrete projects within the industrial sector across British Columbia.

This intermediate to senior-level role offers the opportunity to influence bid strategy, support business growth, and mentor emerging estimating professionals. As a key member of the estimating team, you will manage multiple tenders simultaneously, evaluate project risks and constructability, coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing, and collaborate closely with operations teams and senior leadership to deliver high-quality bid submissions.

Your expertise will play a critical role in securing and successfully delivering civil and structural projects throughout British Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

Lead complex tenders through the full bid lifecycle, ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely submissions.

Review and analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and constructability considerations.

Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and bid summaries.

Develop comprehensive estimates for lump-sum, unit-rate, design-build, and construction management projects.

Coordinate and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure scope completeness and alignment with project requirements.

Conduct risk assessments and recommend appropriate contingency strategies.

Support procurement planning and pre‑construction activities during the tender phase.

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field operations teams to develop execution strategies and pricing assumptions.





Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators and team members.

Monitor project performance and incorporate lessons learned into future estimating practices.

Maintain and update pricing databases, labour rates, equipment costs, and productivity metrics.

Demonstrate and promote the company's commitment to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) throughout all estimating and pre‑construction activities.

Education & Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management , or a related discipline.

Experience

Minimum 8+ years of estimating experience within civil infrastructure, industrial, structural, commercial, or heavy civil construction environments.

Proven success preparing and delivering complex lump‑sum, negotiated, and alternative‑delivery tenders.

Strong experience estimating projects involving:

Structural steel

Earthworks

Industrial facilities and infrastructure projects

Experience working on projects throughout British Columbia is considered an asset.

Technical Requirements

Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software and the ability to quickly learn new systems.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project .

Strong understanding of labour, equipment, material pricing, productivity rates, and construction methodologies.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and geotechnical reports.

Excellent quantity take-off and cost analysis capabilities.

Knowledge of union agreements, wage structures, market conditions, and regional construction costs within British Columbia.

Salary: $120 - $140k per annum
The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group’s compensation policy.
