About the Opportunity
Acara Solutions is partnering with a well-established flexible packaging manufacturer to hire a Maintenance Manager for its Aurora, Ontario facility.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this is the senior maintenance leadership role within the plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the maintenance department, driving equipment reliability, overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, managing the maintenance budget, coordinating capital projects, and ensuring the safe operation of both production equipment and facility infrastructure.
The facility operates sophisticated PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment in a 24/7 environment and is currently performing well with low downtime. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to build on an already successful operation while helping lead several exciting modernization and capital improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach and mentor the maintenance department.
Prioritize and assign work to maintenance supervisors, leads and technicians.
Establish accountability and performance expectations.
Support employee development and ongoing technical training.
Foster a strong safety-first culture.
Maintenance Operations
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Reduce unplanned downtime while improving equipment reliability.
Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and automation-related issues.
Review work orders and ensure timely completion.
Maintain maintenance documentation and reporting.
Electrical & Automation
Troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment and production machinery.
Work with Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment.
Navigate HMI and maintenance screens.
Reset alarms and complete basic equipment calibrations.
Coordinate OEMs and contractors when advanced controls support is required.
PLC programming is not required.
Budget & Asset Management
Manage the department maintenance budget.
Monitor maintenance costs and spending by equipment.
Participate in annual budgeting.
Support capital expenditure planning.
Evaluate equipment replacement versus repair decisions.
Vendor & Contractor Management
Coordinate outside contractors and OEM service providers.
Evaluate vendor performance.
Source new vendors when appropriate.
Manage contractor work and project execution.
Continuous Improvement
Lead reliability improvements.
Participate in equipment upgrades.
Support new equipment installations.
Improve preventive maintenance strategies.
Drive cost reductions while maintaining equipment reliability.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years leading a maintenance department .
Strong industrial electrical background.
Solid mechanical troubleshooting experience.
Experience with:
PLCs
HMIs
Drives
Servo systems
Automated manufacturing equipment
Strong leadership experience.
Preventive and predictive maintenance experience.
Budget management experience.
Vendor and contractor management.
Robust problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries:
