Elevate your academic career as an Assistant Professor of Assyriology at the University of Copenhagen. This non-tenure-track position offers the chance to engage in valuable research and teaching.
The Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies is seeking a motivated candidate for a fixed-term assistant professorship in Assyriology, beginning January 1, 2027. This three-year role merges teaching with research, focusing on philological studies and cuneiform analysis. You will mentor students and collaborate with experts in Middle Eastern Archaeology and Egyptology on various interdisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct high-quality Assyriological research and lectures
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate students effectively
• Develop and revise curricula in Assyriology
• Participate in department outreach activities and governance
• Engage with both internal and external scholarly communities
Requirements:
• Completed PhD in Assyriology or related fields
• Robust skills in Akkadian and Sumerian cuneiform
• Documented research experience in Assyriology
• Expertise in cuneiform text editing and analysis
• Ability to teach various Assyriological courses
Drive engagements in Assyriology teaching and research at UCPH and impact future generations.
