Duties Participates in the national delivery of occupational and critical incident stress management services to all Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) nurses, band-employed/transferred nurses, agency nurses, and student nurses who work in First Nations and Inuit communities;
Provides individual and group education to nursing staff;
Post incident assessment and referrals;
Coordinates interventions for the management and prevention of occupational stress injuries, and for the promotion of workplace wellness.
IMPORTANT: Please note that as assistant coordinator, you will be required to perform nursing-related tasks.

Intent of the process The immediate objective of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff one (1) determinate position for a period of approximately 18 months in Winnipeg, Manitoba with a CBC/CBC linguistic profile. A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates could be established to staff similar or identical positions at Health Canada in various locations, with various tenures (including but not limited to a term, indeterminate, acting, secondment appointments), various linguistic profiles (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, BBC/BBC, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, English Essential), various security requirements (reliability or secret) and conditions of employment could vary according to the position being staffed. Conditions of employment Reliability Status security clearance - Willingness to work evening/ weekends/ statutory holidays, including overtime and on-call / stand-by duty. Willingness to travel throughout Canada. Willingness to attend job-related training. Agreement to maintain professional working boundaries with OCISM clients. (Occupational Critical Incident Stress Management.)
Education Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position. Important Note: Evaluation of education (certificates/diplomas/degrees) obtained outside Canada must be obtained from a recognized credential assessment service. Experience Extensive and diversified nursing experience. (Extensive is defined as at least 5 years; diversified is defined as experience in 3 or more practice settings or areas of nursing practice).
Experience in the development and provision of adult education.
Experience in health promotion program development and management.
Extensive experience facilitating groups. (Extensive is defined as at least three years).
Experience mentoring nurses or providing nurse peer support.
Applied/assessed at a later date Occupational Certification: Current registration as a registered nurse in a province or territory of Canada, with eligibility for registration in Manitoba.
Knowledge Knowledge of Critical Incident Stress Management.




Knowledge of employee assistance programs.
Knowledge of health promotion program development and management.
Abilities Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Completion of International Critical Incident Stress Foundation course: Individual Crisis Intervention & Peer Support.
Nursing experience in a First Nations community.
